Construction of Pit
The pit must be the same width and length as the hoistway, and should have a minimum 4” thick concrete floor. The majority of the weight of the lift is borne by the plunger (ram). Pit depth of 8” (200 mm) is recommended, however as long as the minimum requirements; 6” (152mm) pit depth and 96” (2438 mm) overhead are met we can fit any travel distance into the hoistway.
- 12" pit depths are required for cabs widths greater than 42" (1067mm) and Elvoron CPL's with capacity of 1,400lbs (635kgs).
