DSCN3418This month, we are sending our appreciation and support to Handi-Lift Inc. of Carlstadt, New Jersey.  Congratulations to Bob Grigorov, James Boydston and the rest of the great professionals at Handi-Lift.  Their installation of a LULA Elevator DSCN3481 (640x360)at the Mediterraneo restaurant in White Plains, NY has earned them the Garaventa Lift Project of the Month for October, 2017.

DSCN3449 (640x360)The elevator is a three-stop unit installed right in the middle of this new modern and upscale restaurant.  It is a very impressive installation.  The location of the elevator within the establishment ensures it is seen as an architectural centerpiece.  The elevator was supplied with a custom-colored aluminum and glass enclosure by Garaventa.  The elevator cab is also aluminum and glass.

The top landing is connected to the top seating area by a beautiful catwalk.  The view from this area is spectacular, since all of the exterior walls are made from tinted glass panels.

Oakland vertical lift nets August POM

This month we are profiling a beautiful Genesis Opal vertical lift. It is installed prominently at the new Wolf Restaurant in Oakland, California. Vertical Platform LiftThe Genesis Opal provides an ADA-compliant accessibility solution. Wheelchair users and other members of the public who have difficulty using stairs will be able to utilize it.

Vertical Platform Wheelchair LiftIn this case, the Opal is used at the front entrance to the restaurant because the main entrance is located above grade. This is a very common accessibility problem. The lift is a good solution because it takes up much less room than a switchback ramp. It is also easier to use for people in wheelchairs. Wolf Restaurant OaklandThe owners opted to include a beautiful, ornate steel gate at the entrance. The gate blocks off the lift after hours, protecting it from misuse or vandalism. The gate and the lift were painted to match.
