Garaventa BC Captures May POM

Providing accessibility within a theater or lecture hall can be a challenge for even the most experienced accessibility contractors. Fortunately, the Garaventa GSL Artira represents a unique solution that can be made to fit over almost any set of stairs.

Platform LiftDesigners at Douglas College in New Westminster, BC were faced with this kind of challenge when looking to provide accessibility in a lecture theater. Garaventa was able to design an inclined platform lift solution that featured IMG_20170502_113319a drive box cabinet hidden behind a wall. This allows for the drive box to be located away from the pedestrian and lift traffic.

Park City Home Elevator Nets April POM

Congratulations to Able Access Elevator in Utah.

Their subHome Elevator from outsidemission of photos from the Nixon Residnce in Park City has earned them the Garaventa Lift Project of the MonGlass home elevator from insideth for April, 2017.

The installation features an Elvoron hydraulic drive elevator with an aluminum and glass cab. The aluminum framing for the cab is painted black and the fixtures are standard brushed stainless steel. Home elevator controlsThe Car Operating Panel (COP) features the optional integrated hands-free glass home elevatortelephone, and the cab gate is powered to open and close automatically.

The hoistway walls also feature large panels of laminated safety glass to allow passengers to enjoy the view outside as they are traveling between floors.

Typically, inclined lifts are installed as part of a renovation. The lifts are often required to bring commercial spaces in to compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) before the business is granted an Occupancy Permit and is allowed to open to the public.

IMG_0109In this case the owners of DPS, Jeffrey and Diane Steves, decided to proactively improve accessibility within their stylish studio. The lift is painted a custom shade of black to blend in with the surrounding stair railings.
