Providing accessibility within a theater or lecture hall can be a challenge for even the most experienced accessibility contractors. Fortunately, the Garaventa GSL Artira represents a unique solution that can be made to fit over almost any set of stairs.
Designers at Douglas College in New Westminster, BC were faced with this kind of challenge when looking to provide accessibility in a lecture theater. Garaventa was able to design an inclined platform lift solution that featured a drive box cabinet hidden behind a wall. This allows for the drive box to be located away from the pedestrian and lift traffic.
Congratulations to Don Sanchez, Barry Sherman and the rest of the great crew at Garaventa Lift in Port Moody, BC. Their installation of this GSL Artira inclined platform lift has earned them the Garaventa Lift Project of the Month for May, 2017.
Our thanks and congratulations go out to all of the fine folks at Access Elevator in Lifts. Their installation of a stainless steel Artira has earned them the Garaventa Lift Project of the Month for March, 2017.
The new lift replaces a Savaria Omega that “never worked”, according to local newspaper reports, Articles featured the struggles of wheelchair-bound family members who could not visit their relatives because of the faulty lift.
Congratulations to Neil Hankin, Brian Trueman, David Lair and the rest of the crew at Hankin Specialty Elevators. Their submission of photos from Decorative Plumbing Supply in San Carlos, California has been named the Garaventa Lift Project of the Month for February, 2017.
Typically, inclined lifts are installed as part of a renovation. The lifts are often required to bring commercial spaces in to compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) before the business is granted an Occupancy Permit and is allowed to open to the public.
In this case the owners of DPS, Jeffrey and Diane Steves, decided to proactively improve accessibility within their stylish studio. The lift is painted a custom shade of black to blend in with the surrounding stair railings.
